Located outside the village of Rognes, in the heart of the southeastern region of Provence, France, Château Beaulieu means “beautiful place” in French. Dating back to the 1500s, Château Beaulieu was historically home to the great noble families of Provence. Today, the Estate comprises 720 acres and is the largest single Estate in the AOP Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence appellation, with 432 acres planted to vines interspersed with oak, almond, and truffle trees.
Château Beaulieu’s vineyards are planted on the slopes of the dormant La Trévaresse volcano, which at 1,200 feet in altitude, faces the Lubéron and overlooks the Durance valley, Silvacane Abbey and La Roque d’Anthéron. The vineyards display a diverse range of mineral-rich soils including volcanic basalt and calcareous clay, to produce exceptional expressions of Provence Rosé. The vineyards are planted to the grape varieties that are particularly well suited for each parcel’s terroir and range from Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Cinsault for the reds to Vermentino and Sauvignon Blanc for the whites.
Château Beaulieu produces two distinctive rosé wines sourced from 100% estate vineyards and are composed of red grapes that are vinified as a white wine in order to minimize phenolic extraction, maximize freshness and achieve their hallmark pale rosé hue. Their flagship “Cuvée Alexandre” is sourced only from the best parcels across the Estate and bottled in limited quantities.
