Availability: Out of stock

For four generations, the Rousseau family has worked tirelessly and passionately on some of the finest terroirs of the Côte de Nuits.

It has expanded over the years and today covers 15 hectares and 3 ares. They own 3 hectares of Village appellation, 3 hectares 77 of Premier Crus and 8 hectares 52 of Grand Crus, situated in Gevrey Chambertin and Morey-Saint-Denis.

The vineyards of the Château de Gevrey-Chambertin became part of the domain in 2012.

Since then, we have pulled up the vines in some places and replanted them in others to rebalance the age of the vines. We worked extensively on the soil, introducing a mechanical process for aeration and to encourage microorganisms. At the same time, we decided to try a biodynamic process. We have been developing our understanding year on year to get the best results.

We have come a long way, and we are more and more satisfied with the quality of the wines, but this is just the beginning.

91 -  Burghound
Outer quote mark A ripe and pretty mix features notes of red and dark berries along with abundant earth and underbrush nuances. There is good richness and volume to the nicely intense middle weight flavors where the lingering finish possess slightly better depth than it typically does.

90 - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Outer quote mark The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos du Château is the finest rendition of this bottling that Rousseau has produced to date. Offering up an inviting bouquet of sweet red berries, candied peel, raw cocoa and loamy soil, it's medium to full-bodied, lively and fine-boned, with more concentration than preceding vintages and good length on the sapid, nicely defined finish.
