Damien Gachot’s winery is in Corgoloin, one of the five villages in the Côte de Nuits that comprise this appellation. These villages are scattered in between those whose reputation precedes them, such as Nuits, Vosne, Chambolle, Vougeot, Morey, and Gevrey. Corgoloin is on the southern end of the Côte de Nuits, and we find great value here in addition to the dark, meaty Pinot that we expect from the Côte d’Or’s northern slice. Damien also manages finesse in this bottling, which is no small achievement and the reason that he has such a devoted following.

This is a special cuvee which comes from a plot of the same name "Les Chaillots" in old Burgundian French which means ‘Les Cailloux’ (the Pebbles) which exactly describes this plot where the soil is very stony with natural drainage. The soil produces complex wines which are expressed in fruity notes of cherry, blackberry & forest floor.
Elegant and complex, strong to powerful wine. Nose is complex and balanced giving a combination of red fruits (cherries) and notes of wood & spices, the whole a blend of the typical aromas of roasted coffee beans, toasted bread, smoke & tar. This wine should be consumed within 5 to 7 years after bottling. Pair with red meat, game or meat dishes with sauce.
