Les Chenes Sauvignon Blanc 2022

Domaine des Hauts Baigneaux is a partnership between long time friends and winemakers Nicolas Grobois and Philippe Mesnier. Loire Valley locals, and with their own wines to worry about, they still found time to collaborate and come together for this project, purchasing 12 hectares of vines in the small subregion of Azay-le-Rideau, an excellent, though relatively unknown are, not far from Chinon. They immediately began farming all the vines organically, and set out on a mission to reinvigorate the region. The wines of Domaine des Hauts Baigneux are all produced with natural yeast, and bottled with minimal intervention. The cuvées 'Les Chenes' and 'Les Pentes' are delicious, easy going wines that showcase the best of Loire Valley. The sparkling wines are fantastic bottles of everyday bubbles, and the single vineyard Chenin Blancs are a testament to the wonderful soils and microclimate of this under-appreciated region. A classy, classic Chenin Blanc that balances a wonderfully fresh fruit profile with zesty tension from the clay and limestone in the soil. There's plenty of ripe pear and quince, some white grapefruit and a delicate note of jasmine and lily. The wine is fresh, tangy and energetic and leaves you wanting more. Wonderful!
