Having a long history of expertise in the appellation of Chateauneuf-du-Pape, the Brotte house knows the terroirs of the area very well. Les Hauts de Barville has distinctive richness, in the typical style of the wines from Domaine Barville. Their vineyards sit on the best exposed terroir of pebbles, limestone and sand of the prestigious cru of Chateauneuf-du-Pape. The strict selection gives this great wine beautiful concentration and a rich symphony of aromatic notes : red fruits (strawberry mainly), spices, truffles and garrigue. The wine is then aged in a blend of 100 year old large oak casks and new small French oak barrels for one year to develop its signature smoothness and richness of aromas and tannins.

92 Wine Spectator - Ripe and silky in feel, with raspberry and plum compote notes that glide through, supported by light sandalwood, garrigue and tea notes. A subtle mineral streak adds length and lift through the finish. Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. Best from 2020 through 2034. 5,500 cases made, 1,880 cases imported. — JM
